Tinnitus can be incredibly isolating and debilitating, it can lead to depression and force people to withdraw into themselves. Tinnitus is the perception of sound, or sounds, where there is no corresponding external sound. The noises are usually unique to individuals, but often heard as different types of ringing. You can have tinnitus in one or both ears.
There are ways to combat and alleviate the symptoms that people hear and so in November the first Signal Tinnitus Support Group will launch in Shropshire. The first of two groups in conjunction with Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.
Signal Tinnitus Support Group
The first meeting of the Signal Tinnitus Support Group will be on the 6th November at the Hamar Centre, RSH North/Mytton Oak Rd, Shrewsbury SY3 8XQ. If you have Tinnitus and would like to meet others that do as well, to exchange experiences and coping strategies or if you’d just like a friendly place to meet then come along and bring a friend. The second group will meet in Telford in the new year so please keep an eye open for dates.
“Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Signal Tinnitus Support Group aims to provide a friendly, informal environment for people to meet and learn to live well with their tinnitus. Evidence shows that peer support reduces feelings of isolation and is an ideal opportunity for people to gain inspiration and support from other people’s experiences.”
