Hearing loss is a hidden disability which directly affects one in five people in Shropshire – a figure higher than the national average.
You can be in a crowded room but be isolated. You can be amongst family and friends but be alone.
People with hearing loss can become isolated and withdrawn from social life, which can lead to depression and an increased risk of dementia.
Signal offers practical help and support to the 64,000 people and their families across Shropshire living with hearing loss. We offer advice and support on hearing loss, hearing screening, hearing aid repairs, tinnitus support, equipment trials, sign language classes and easy access to lip reading classes and audiology. We also run a befriending service for people suffering a loss of self-confidence as they deal with the everyday challenges resulting from hearing loss or deafness.
