FUNDRAISE FOR US DURING COVID-19

There are lots of ways you can raise money to support people who are Deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus.

Covid-19 has had a huge impact for those who are Deaf or face challenges with their hearing. There has been a lack of accessible information and the use of face masks and coverings has had a massive impact on people’s ability to communicate. We are working hard to help support people during the pandemic, but we need your support.

If you are planning a fundraising event or activity in aid of Signal, we can support you. You may have your own ideas, or you can chose one of the ideas from our fundraising list below! As events and activities are restricted, currently our list covers lots of ways you can fundraise for us virtually and ensuring you are adhering to covid-19 guidelines. We will update our list to include lots more exciting events and activities in the future!

Signal’s Virtual Fundraising Ideas

  1. Facebook Fundraiser - If you have a Facebook account you can set up a Facebook fundraiser. You can set up a fundraising page for friends and family to make a donation – it’s as simple as that!

  2. Amazon Smile – If are doing online shopping through Amazon they will donate 0.5% of the cost of your shopping to us, at no cost to you! Just chose Signal when you shop through Amazon Smile.

  3. Virtual Pub Quiz – Become a Quizmaster and use Skype, FaceTime or Google Hangouts to hold a virtual pub quiz. Set up a JustGiving page and ask your guests to make a donation to take part.

  4. Virtual exercise class - Why not run an online class through Facebook Live, Instagram Live or Zoom? It could be yoga, Zumba, Salsa dancing, to name just a few! Why not set up a JustGiving page and ask for a donation to Signal from those taking part.

  5. Virtual cooking class – Lots of us have been developing our cookery skills this year, making banana bread and other culinary delights. If you have created some masterpieces in the kitchen why not share your skills and invite people to make a donation to Signal?

  6. Virtual party- If you are celebrating a special occasion why not hold a virtual party? You could even post each guest a “party in a box” for a festive atmosphere on screen; party boxes could include novelty hats or decorations even food and drink. Remember that everyone can be creative from the comfort of home. You can play fun games, like charades. Make the most of your virtual event and create a fundraising page. Ask guests to donate the money they would have spent on travel, a new outfit, a bottle of wine or a gift!

  7. Virtual concert – Do you play an instrument? Do you know any local bands? Why not organise a virtual concert with the proceeds raised donated to Signal?

  8. Clear the clutter – Now is the time to clear out the clutter! You’ll be sure to find things you no longer need and you will be amazed at how great it feels to have a sort out. Why not list any unwanted items in good condition online and donate any proceeds to Signal?

  9. Challenge Events from home – If you like getting active you can ask people to sponsor you and hold a virtual challenge event from your home. Why not involve all of the family, you can run on the spot or do a weightlifting challenge (you can even use tins from the kitchen cupboards!).

For any of the fundraising events above you can ask for donations to our JustGiving page. If you think you can support us by raising funds this year then please email us at info@signal.org.uk, we would love to hear from you.
