Stokesay Court, the famed location of much of the award-winning film ‘Atonement’, is hosting a Charity Open Day to celebrate ten years since the film’s release.
This special event is taking place on the afternoon of Sunday 3rd September 2017 and is raising valuable funds for Signal and fellow charity Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Stokesay Court’s magnificent mansion and landscaped grounds form the scenes of much of the action in the film adaptation of Ian McEwan’s bestselling novel.
The film, starring Saoirse Ronan, James McAvoy, Keira Knightley, Benedict Cumberbatch and more, received seven Oscar nominations and won the BAFTA Award for Best Film.
Book your ticket to explore the mansion’s Great Hall and Dining Room and the grounds with their ‘Atonement’ settings, from the grotto and fountain to the lake, stream and lawns.
In the oak-panelled Great Hall you will find ‘Atonement’ exhibits and in the Dining Room you can take afternoon tea with home-baked cake, which is available to purchase onsite.
Tickets giving entry to the grounds and this part of the mansion are £10.00 per person, and accompanied children under 16 may enter free of charge. Tickets must be booked in advance, either via Stokesay Court’s website (a small booking fee applies) or in person at Ludlow Assembly Rooms, Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre or Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery.
There is also a limited number of tickets available for a short ‘Atonement’ house tour to view the Library/Billiards Room, Drawing Room and some of the bedrooms. These tickets are an extra £6.00 per person and must be booked in advance – online only. Accompanied children under 12 are free.
Stokesay Court is situated north of Ludlow in Shropshire. We look forward to welcoming you!
Please do be aware ahead of your visit that:
rugs, furniture and varied light levels mean that the optional ‘Atonement’ house tour is not suitable for wheelchair users;
well behaved dogs on leads are allowed into the grounds, but only assistance dogs are allowed into the house;
stilettos should not be worn inside the house;
photography is not allowed inside the house, which is a private, lived-in, family home;
tickets will not be refunded unless the event is cancelled because of extreme weather or unforeseen circumstances.
