Why assistive devices for hearing loss?
Losing your hearing or developing tinnitus can be extremely distressing and people are often desperate to find ways of improving their situation. The good news is that there are assistive devices and technologies available to help people to hear better or to cope with their tinnitus – the bad news is that it’s not always easy to find out about them and even harder to test them out before you buy. This equipment is often too expensive to take a chance on and it’s not always clear if what you are buying will work for you.
Signal is working with Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital Trust’s audiology department and hearing therapists by providing assistive devices that people can try out to make sure it works for them. We want as many people as possible to understand what is out there that can help. If people are able to try things out before they spend good money on them they can be sure it’s an appropriate solution for them as an individual.
